Welcome, Katey McPherson

The Safe and Sound Speakers Bureau Welcomes a New Exclusive Member to Its Powerful Lineup

We are honored to welcome Katey McPherson as an exclusive member of the Safe and Sound Speakers Bureau! With more than 27 years of experience as a teacher, counselor, and school administrator, Katey has dedicated her career to supporting the social, emotional, and digital well-being of young people. Today, she works alongside schools, families, and communities nationwide to help them navigate the complex challenges facing students in a rapidly evolving digital world, from online safety and cyberbullying to youth mental health and resilience.

“Katey brings both deep educational experience and a compassionate, practical voice to conversations about student well-being and safety. She understands the realities that schools and families face today — especially in a digital landscape that is constantly evolving. Katey’s ability to translate complex challenges into clear, actionable strategies empowers school communities to better support and protect their students.” — Michele Gay, Founder and Executive Director, Safe and Sound Schools

Katey McPherson is widely recognized as a leading voice in digital wellness and youth mental health advocacy. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience in education and school leadership, she helps families and educators understand how technology, mental health, and student safety intersect — and how communities can respond with empathy, awareness, and practical solutions.

Her work spans classrooms, conference stages, media platforms, and community forums. Katey has appeared on national news outlets and podcasts discussing issues such as cyberbullying, sextortion, and the growing mental health challenges facing young people. She currently leads professional development efforts connected to digital safety initiatives that help protect millions of students online.

“Kids today are growing up in a digital landscape that adults never experienced at their age. Our responsibility is not just to restrict technology, but to guide young people in learning how to navigate it safely, build resilience, and stay connected to the people who care about them most.” — Katey McPherson

Katey’s work has supported school districts, law enforcement partners, parent groups, and community organizations across the country. Through engaging keynotes, student assemblies, and professional development workshops, she equips audiences with practical strategies to foster digital responsibility, strengthen communication with young people, and recognize early warning signs of distress before they escalate into crisis.
