As we step into a new year, I’m energized by the momentum and commitment I continue to see across our Bright Futures Communities. All around the country, districts are starting the year strong — coming together to meet real needs, strengthen connections, and ensure every child feels supported, valued, and ready to succeed. This spirit of collaboration sets the foundation for safer, healthier, and more connected school communities in the months ahead.
With so many meaningful examples of compassion and leadership already unfolding, I’m honored to highlight just a few of the Bright Futures Communities making a remarkable impact as we begin the year.
Bright Futures Gallatin, MO
Bright Futures Gallatin is launching Share the Love 2026, an initiative that highlights specific, targeted needs within their schools and community and making it easy for supporters to step in where help is needed most. Their first focus of the year is stocking grab-and-go snacks for middle and high school food pantries, ensuring students have access to food throughout the school day. It’s a thoughtful, practical way for the community to align their generosity with real-time student needs.

Bright Futures Bowling Green, MO
In Bowling Green, DECA students took the lead on a meaningful Angel Tree project at the high school, inviting the community to donate cleaning supplies for families in need. This student-led effort reflects both leadership and compassion, helping relieve everyday burdens for families as they begin the new year. It’s a powerful reminder that even simple essentials can make a lasting difference when a community comes together with purpose.

Bright Futures Little Rock, AR
Bright Futures Little Rock is kicking off the New Year with BINGO for a Cause — a fun and engaging way to raise funds that directly support students and families throughout the year. Hosted at a local community partner, this event blends connection, creativity, and generosity in a way that strengthens both relationships and resources for those who need them most.

As this new year unfolds, I’m encouraged by the leadership, creativity, and care reflected in communities like these. Their work reminds us that meaningful change happens when people show up consistently for one another — especially in the everyday moments that shape student success and well-being.
Together, we can continue building school communities where every child has a champion, and every school truly serves as the heart of its community.
With gratitude,
Kim
