Recognizing the Impact of Violence: Resources for Recovering Communities

Two people holding hands, close up on the hands. One is wearing gray, the other is wearing black.

Today marks one year since two lives were lost and countless lives forever changed by the shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI. Our hearts are with the entire Madison community, as well as all those impacted by the senseless acts of violence that rippled across the country and globe this weekend. From Bondi Beach to Brown University, we know that when violences touches a community, its effects extend far beyond one place.

At Safe and Sound Schools, we recognize that these moments call for both compassion and resolve. We stand alongside these communities as they navigate grief, uncertainty, and recovery, and we remain committed to the work of prevention, preparedness, and care.

Though our community spans the country, we are united in purpose: supporting one another in the aftermath of violence and working together toward a future where every student, educator, and community is truly safe and sound.
