A Life Well Lived: In Memory of Bob Martin

It is with both a heavy heart and immense gratitude that I join in celebrating the life of Bob Martin, a truly remarkable man.
Bob’s obituary so beautifully captures the essence of his legacy: “a life well lived and deeply loved.” Nothing could be more true.
I first met Bob shortly after starting this mission. From the very beginning, he stepped beside me, connecting me with people, resources, and opportunities to grow into my new role. He was more than a pillar of guidance for me and Safe and Sound, he was a true friend. Even in “retirement,” Bob remained deeply committed to his life’s work, serving our organization and countless others with unwavering dedication.
During his 28 years with the Los Angeles Police Department, he founded the LAPD Threat Management Unit, furthering his work through ongoing contributions to the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and Gavin de Becker & Associates. Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was most proud of his roles as husband, father, and grandfather. He spoke often and lovingly of his late wife, “Babs,” his children, and his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Bob’s impact on this industry, and on the lives of so many, cannot be overstated. He gave selflessly to individuals, to causes he cared deeply about, and to me personally. His absence will be profoundly felt, but his memory will forever inspire.
Truly, a life well lived and deeply loved.
With deep gratitude,
Michele
