When is the Summit?
The National School Safety Summit will take place on March 29-30, 2019 in Houston, Texas.
Where will the Summit be held?
The National School Safety Summit will be held at Region 4 Education Service Center, McKinney Conference Center, in Houston Texas. The address to the conference center is: 7200 Northwest 100 Drive, Houston, TX 77092.
How many people will be at the Summit?
We are expecting 350 attendees from across the country representing all aspects of school safety–survivors of school-based crisis, school and community based mental and behavioral health, health and wellness, physical safety, architecture and design, school leadership and law, public safety, education, and more.
Can I earn CEU credit?
Winthrop University will offer graduate credit to conference attendees. The cost is $40 to earn 1 graduate credit (1 day conference attendance) and $80 to earn 2 graduate credits (2 day conference attendance). All requirements for the course will be completed while you attend the conference. Graduate credit will be reflected on a Winthrop University transcript that can be used toward recertification/licensure renewal. Transcript course title will be “National Trends in School Safety.” We strongly advise you register in advance. Use the link below for online registration. The registration fee includes attendance at all seminars and breakfast and lunch for two days.
Is there visitor parking available?
Visitors can park at the McKinney Conference Center, located at 7200 Northwest 100 Drive, Houston, Texas, 77092. Choose between the east parking lot, adjacent to the conference center, or the south parking lot, directly across the street from the conference center. Handicap parking is available in both lots

What will people learn?
The National Summit on School Safety is an intensive, two day conference focused on comprehensive school safety. Ideal for educators, administrators, safety professionals, mental and behavioral health practitioners, and community members and leaders, this event provides hands-on learning from national and regional experts about school safety best practices. With deep-dive breakout sessions, hands-on workshops, leadership round tables, inspirational keynotes, and dedicated networking, attendees will add to their school safety toolbox to better meet their community’s school safety needs.

This summit gathers national experts, leaders, and practitioners to share best practices, solutions, programs, resources, and practical experience to address and improve school safety. Attendees will return to their school communities with a stocked toolbox and a powerful network of connections with experts and practitioners from all areas of the field of school safety.
How is Safe and Sound Schools connected with Region 4 Education Service Center?
Safe and Sound Schools and the Region 4 ESC are partnering to offer this summit. Our organizations have worked together in the past to bring national level school safety presenters and training to the local leaders, experts, and practitioners of Region 4 and in surrounding areas. The Region 4 Education Service Center is located in Houston, allowing attendees from coast to coast to fly or drive in for this national event where experts, leaders, practitioners and attendees from Safe and Sound Sound’s national community will gather to present, network, share ideas and best practices.
